Assembly and Salah

Daily Assembly

“And remember your Lord much and exalt [Him with praise] in the evening and the morning."

Al Imran: 41

Daily assembly is a vital time in the school day for nurturing the children’s tarbiyah, akhlaaq and adaab. We begin each day with Surah Fatihah to renew our niyyah for learning for the sake of Allah SWT. Thus, assembly always involves the daily remembrance of Allah SWT, promotion of Islamic values and recitation of the Quran. Early Years children learn Islamic concepts and vocabulary through using the resource ‘A is for Allah’. Primary Children in learn simple tafsir of Juz Amma. Every Friday children recite the first ten ayat of Surah Kahf and class teachers award children’s learning shakhsiyah development of awarding certificates. This work is also put up on the schools’ ‘Work of the Week’ board for Primary classes.

Dhuhr Salah

“And establish prayer and give zakah and bow with those who bow [in worship and obedience]”

Al Baqarah: 43

Children begin to learn the basic acts of how to make wudhu and perform salah in the Early Years classes. Children develop an understanding that praying salah is the most important act of ibadah to build a relationship with Allah ta’ala. In Key Stage One, children begin to pray in jamaah in their classrooms and in Key Stage Two children pray together in jamaah. As part of the learning of how to pray in jamaah, children develop their confidence through calling out the adhaan and iqaamah and leading the salah and deliver the Juma’a khutbah.
