Tarbiyah: Building the Next Generation of Muslims Charity Dinner 2014




Shakhsiyah Community organised a wonderful charity dinner evening on Saturday 3rd May 2014 to raise funds for Shakhsiyah School, Slough branch at the Copthorne Hotel, Slough. Guests listened to presentations from local leaders from the Muslim community about the work of Shakhsiyah Schools including Dr Uthman Lateef and Imam Abdul Jabbar. The head teacher of Shakhsiyah School about the importance of nurturing and tarbiyah for Muslim children. There was inspirational Qur’an recitation and beautiful anasheed from children. Children talked about why they love their school and its unique ethos, they said “there is no other school like it”. Teachers and parents alike were touched by the children expressing the schools ethos as, “teachers are like mothers and mothers are like teachers” and that they now have a love of “learning from the cradle to the grave”.




Qur’an: Our Beating Heart Charity Dinner 2010


A Charity Dinner was held in 2010 at the Royal Garden Hotel Kensington, London with the inspirational theme of Qur’an, Our Beating Heart. The evening began with Quran recitation from children of Shakhsiyah schools; followed by reflections on the theme from various speakers, including Sheikh Tijani, Ahmad Thompson, and Muhammad Ali of Islam Channel. Headteachers: Farah Ahmed of Slough branch and Foziya Reddy of London branch spoke briefly about the history of the school, its struggles, achievements and its vision for the future. The evening also included presentations from schoolchildren who impressed the audience with their love of Qur’an, confidence in their Islamic identity and expressive ability.
